Greetings!
This is my first official Blogpost entry. I want to share a quick thought or notion about getting started on yourself that has been circling around in my mind. It isn’t a new notion or an original one, by any means. In fact, it is such a common meme that it is often overlooked and taken for granted. We dismiss it and become complacent about it. All too often, we fall into the BUSY mindset and tell ourselves…
“Oh Yes, that would be nice. If I only HAD the time.”
What am I talking about?
Time
I’m talking about really taking time for yourself to be who you are and do what you do. If you are feeling out of touch lately with who you are or the person you want to be, the only way to get back in touch is to take some time for yourself to find out.
All you need to get started is to find a 30 minute block to do something for yourself. I guarantee, If you do that at least 3 times a week, you will start to feel human again. You can go for a 30 minute workout, a walk on the beach, a bike ride, tend your garden, read a book, meditate, listen to your favourite music or sit and have a cup of tea while you practice your Mindfulness.
Time for you needs to be nourishing and frequent. It does not have to be a gruelling workout or time saved up and purged out in a long marathon session. In fact, I recommend that it isn’t. A gruelling workout might seem like a turnoff and you may become reluctant to do it. Likewise, a marathon session of anything may become too difficult to squeeze into an already hectic week. I may be wrong, but I feel that frequent easily assimilated opportunities to spend time for yourself may be more beneficial than infrequent and difficult to plan chunks of time. Small doses may also be easier for your family to adapt to as you begin to take time back for yourself.
So, MAKE IT SIMPLE AND DO ABLE, schedule in a few 30 minute blocks of time per week during which you invest in nourishing and restoring yourself. Make sure it is something that you would do for you.
YOU DO HAVE THE TIME!
SHIFT YOUR DAY A LITTLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Pick something that feeds your soul.
Do something that gives you hope.
Choose something that you need or want to do for yourself.
Making a change to improve your life begins with making time for yourself and taking care of yourself. Setting yourself up and getting ready to take your big leap into who you are starts there.
Today I took 30 minutes for myself and went for a run on the beach. What did you do today to feed your soul and give you hope? If you would like to share, please leave a comment below!
